Fryar Fights For Average Win at Texas Circuit Finals

Round Two of the Texas Circuit Finals were held Wednesday night in Waco, Texas. Not slowing down, the barrel racers turned in incredibly fast times.
Brazilian native, Keyla Costa, who now calls Tolar, Texas, home shot to the lead Wednesday night with a 15.82-second run. Costa ran the second fastest time so far of the entire rodeo.
Turning in a 15.92-second run was Stephanie Fryar, the winner of round one. After Fryar's two runs totaling 31.70 seconds, the hometown cowgirl is leading the aggregate.
Clocking in third was Ilyssa Riley with a 15.94-second run. Riley just finished the 2023 rodeo season in the tenth position overall in the world standings with an impressive $111,473 in earnings. Riley will be heading to the Thomas and Mack arena come December to make her NFR debut.
Tying for fourth place with a 16.10 was Kelly Allen and Ashley Castleberry. They have been battling it out all year, and the Texas Circuit finals have proven no different. Not only did they tie in round two but are mere hundredths of a second away from each other in the aggregate.
Only two more rounds remain for the competitors. Will Fryar hold on to her lead in the average, or will Castlebery and Allen catch her?
