During the first round of the NBA 2021 Eastern Conference Playoffs, Atlanta Hawks point guard Trae Young simultaneously made sneaker history and broke the hearts of New York Knicks fans.

Young used the platform to debut his first signature adidas sneaker - the adidas Trae Young 1. Atlantans immediately became enamored with the new hoop shoes when Young debuted a colorway inspired by the 1996 Summer Olympics held in Atlanta, Georgia.

For most of the past two years, I've fielded questions from ATLiens on why adidas never released the shoes. Well, it took some time, but they are here. We did it, Joe. The adidas Trae Young 1 and the adidas Trae Young 3 have both been released in the 'Olympic' colorway.

For a limited time, fans can purchase the 'Olympic' colorways of Young's first and third signature sneakers on the adidas website. Both models cost $140 in adult sizes and are guaranteed to sell out quickly.

This is the first time Young's first model has been released in a new colorway in well over a year. Can we call this a retro release already? Also, can we have a larger discussion on why Young keeps getting excluded from the Team USA roster? There is still time for the United States Men's National Team to right this wrong before next summer.

While we campaign for Young to represent the United States in the 2024 Summer Olympics, now is the perfect time for fans to purchase what were believed to be ultra-rare player-exclusive sneakers. Stay tuned to FanNation Kicks for all your footwear coverage.
