It would not be the holiday season if sneakerheads did not take a few disappointing losses on sneakers they wanted to purchase. This year, it was a new spin on one of the most iconic sneakers from the signature line of Kobe Bryant

The Nike Kobe 6 Protro 'Reverse Grinch' had a shock drop in November and an official release in December. Unfortunately, the supply is still not meeting the demand. That has been the story of the past few years for many loyal fans of the late-great Los Angeles Lakers legend.

But it is never too early to get our hopes up for next year's holiday release. Once again, Nike is bringing the heat for the big day. According to Sneaker Files, the Nike Kobe 9 Protro 'Christmas' is releasing in the Holiday 2024 season. Below is everything athletes and fans must know about the classic kicks.

By 2014, Bryant's signature sneaker line was undergoing an evolution. After popularizing low-cut basketball shoes, Bryant went in the opposite direction. Drawing inspiration from Manny Pacquiao's boxing shoes, the Nike Kobe 9 was first released as a high top.

The bold new hoop shoe featured a Flyknit upper and would later be released in different iterations, including a low-cut version and some colorways featuring Engineered Mesh. Sure, Bryant was coming off of a torn Achilles tendon, but the shoe had been in development years before the injury (although the stitches on the back heel were an excellent touch).

The Nike Kobe 9 'Christmas' initially launched for $225 on December 26, 2014. The festive colorway sports red and white accents on the Flyknit upper, green stitching on the heel, black Swoosh logos, and several discovery details hidden throughout the hoop shoe.

While Bryant's ninth signature sneaker was a hit, NBA fans did not get to see the "Black Mamba" wear the model much. He returned from injury in the Prelude series (his first retro sneaker release) and would battle injuries for much of the next two seasons. His Lakers teammate, Nick Young, would take on the responsibility of debuting new Nike Kobe sneakers.

Athletes and fans can expect the multiple colorways of the Nike Kobe 9 to launch throughout 2024 and 2025. Let's just hope the supply is equal to the demand by that time. Stay locked into FanNationKicks.com for all your sneaker news from the sports world.
