Shedeur Sanders Speaks On Wearing Deion's Nike Cleats

In this story:
There has been no shortage of compelling storylines throughout this college football season. While the Colorado Buffaloes are far from the best team in the NCAA, it is impossible to ignore what is transpiring in Boulder, Colorado.
Deion "Coach Prime" Sanders and his sons Shedeur and Shilo are turning the sport into a family business. With critics and naysayers waiting to pounce on every misstep, the Sanders family continues to lean on each other throughout the maelstrom of the season.
One of the cooler ways Shedeur and Shilo have paid tribute to their father is by wearing his retro signature Nike cleats. We have seen both players wear the Nike DT 96 in various black and gold colorways. In a recent interview with Zion Olojede of Complex, Shedeur spoke on the significance of wearing Deion's cleats.
Shedeur said, "I gotta wear his cleats up there and represent the family. His cleats were historic and legendary back in the day, and they still are to this day. But things transpired to where he was with Under Armour at the time, so it wasn't available. So now, they renewed, and everything is good. So we back wearing the cleats.
When asked about having his own cleat one day, Shedeur said, "I definitely wanna have my own cleat. I wanna have like a version of his kind for sure. But like a little bit my way. But he'll definitely have a say in it, though cause he's pops. He got to. He done did it, he was successful, and you know, he's still going and still doing everything the right way."
Unfortunately for athletes and fans, the Nike DT 96 has not been re-released yet. However, they can shop Colorado Buffaloes footwear and apparel, including "Coach Prime" gear, on the Nike website. Stay locked into FanNationKicks.com for all your sneaker news.
