Latest on Decision to Book Gunther Versus Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 42

Gunther is set to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 42, but booking that match was not a unanimous decision, according to a new report.
The Ring General made his return to WWE Raw this past Monday night, ending a brief three-week hiatus from the company's flagship show. He came out of nowhere to attack Seth Rollins as The Visionary was lining up to deliver a stomp to Paul Heyman.
After locking in a sleeper hold and rendering Rollins unconscious, Gunther pointed toward the WrestleMania sign that was hanging inside Madison Square Garden. Raw General Manager Adam Pearce would then make the match official just a few minutes later.
This was a surprising turn of events, as many believed that Bron Breakker would be Rollins opponent at the 'Showcase of the Immortals', assuming that he was able to recover from his recent hernia surgery in time.
Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported earlier this week that Breakker has been medically cleared to return to competition, but the creative team made the decision to hold off on his match with Rollins until they had ample television time to build toward it.
Members of WWE creative team wanted to stay the course with Rollins and Breakker
During the latest episode of Wrestlevotes Radio on Fightful Select, the guys reported that the match between Rollins and Gunther was officially locked in about a week before Monday's episode of WWE Raw in New York.
"This was not a unanimous creative decision, as some on the team wanted to proceed with Rollins wrapping up the Vision story. Others just wanted to get Gunther on the card. Paul Heyman is not expected to be in the corner of Gunther for the match."

The storyline motivations for Gunther attacking Rollins are unknown at this time, but we will likely get an explanation at some point in the near future.
The former World Heavyweight Champion has been on a career-defining run over the past several months, defeating Goldberg, John Cena and AJ Styles in their retirement matches. That string of marquee victories earned him the moniker of the Career Killer, but until this week, he appeared to be in danger of missing out on WrestleMania.
Rumors were that his recent program with Dragon Lee was supposed to lead to a match with Rey Mysterio later this month in Las Vegas, but the WWE Hall of Famer suffered a rib injury and has yet to return to television.
The card for WrestleMania 42 is currently at 12 matches, and WrestleVotes is reporting that the working plan is to add at least two more in the coming weeks.
