DeMatha Catholic boys basketball coach Mike Jones accepts assistant coaching job at Virginia Tech

One of the top high school boys basketball head coaching jobs in the country opened up on Monday.
DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Md.) boys basketball head coach Mike Jones has accepted an associate head coach position at Virginia Tech, the school announced on social media. Jones succeeded legendary DeMatha head coach Morgan Wooten in 2002.
DeMatha Catholic is one of the top high school basketball programs nationally. Current NBA players Victor Oladipo, Jerami Grant and Markelle Fultz all attended the school.
Jones compiled a record of 511-119 over his 20 years at DeMatha, and he led them to a national championship in 2006. He also has deep ties to USA basketball and has served as the USA Men's Basketball U16 head coach since 2019.
