Photos: St. Joseph's Academy wins seventh straight Missouri golf championship
The St. Joseph's Academy Angels went into Day 2 of the Missouri Class 4 girls golf championships at Twin Hill Golf and Country Club with a 35-stroke lead over the rest of the field.
On Tuesday, after the completion of the two-day, two-round championships, the Angels' lead had swelled to 59 strokes.
It was a dominant performance for a program that has been a dynasty in Missouri high school girls golf. After shooting 321 on Monday, St. Joseph's Academy carded a score of 319 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 640 and capture its seventh straight state title.
Blue Springs South, led by senior and individual champion Maya McVey, finished second with a two-round score of 699. Liberty North was third at 707.
St. Joseph's Academy was led by senior Rylie Andrews, who tied for second overall by shooting 76 in both rounds to finish at 152. SJA's Karen Christine Lenox, a sophomore, was sixth with a two-day score of 157.
McVey shot 2-under par at 70 on Monday and carded a 76 on Tuesday for a two-day total of 146 – six strokes ahead of the three golfers who tied for second place.
Andrews, senior Tierney Baumstark of Rock Bridge and senior Lyla Louderbaugh of Springfield Catholic tied for second at 152. Baumstark's 73 was the low score on Day 2.
