Jadis Jones named Gatorade Missouri Boys Basketball Player of the Year

New Madrid County Central senior guard Jadis Jones was announced as the 2023-24 Gatorade Missouri Boys Basketball Player of the Year on Thursday morning.
A 6-foot-5 senior, Jones averaged 27.1 points, 12.2 rebounds, 4.4 assists, 3.3 steals and 1.6 blocked shots per game as New Madrid County Central went 28-3 and won its second straight Missouri Class 3 championship.
Jones, who also excelled on the football field for the Eagles, finished his high school basketball career with 2,298 points and 1,106 rebounds.
He had previously committed to play football at Coastal Carolina but has since reopened his recruiting for basketball.
Jones is the first player from New Madrid County Central to win the award and follows recent winners in Staley's Kyan Evans (2023), Blair Oaks' Luke Northweather (2022), Greenwood Laboratory School's Aminu Mohammed (2021) and CBC's Caleb Love (2020).
