Darryn Peterson of Huntington Prep narrows college choice down to 8 schools
It was a good New Year's Day for eight college basketball programs around the country, as 5-star recruit Darryn Peterson of Huntington Prep narrowed his list of college choices on Monday.
Peterson, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard who is considered the No. 3 player in the 2025 class by 247Sports, announced that Baylor, Ohio State, Kentucky, North Carolina, Michigan, Kansas, Arkansas and Indiana were his final eight schools.
He spent his first two high school seasons at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy in Ohio, where he averaged 31 points, 9.8 rebounds, 2.8 steals and 1.3 assists last season as a sophomore and was a finalist for the Ohio Mr. Basketball Award.
Peterson transferred prior to this year to Huntington Prep, where he would be eligible to sign Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) deals, as the Ohio High School Athletic Association does not allow such deals for high school athletes.
In November, it was announced that Peterson signed an NIL deal with Adidas, becoming the first high school athlete to do so.
