Buford raced to a big lead Saturday over Elbert County in the North Georgia Showcase and held on to win 64-55.

The tournament co-hosts built a 62-32 lead over the top-ranked team in Class 2A before easing up in the fourth, a quarter Elbert County won 23-2.

Buford (4-1) benefited from a balanced attack led by junior Taylor Romano (14 points), sophomores Ava Watson (12 points) and Betty Nguyen (10 points) and seniors Tatum Ozment and Tori Plantin (8 points each).

Elbert County (2-1) junior Aaniyah Allen scored a game-high 19 points.
