CLASS 3A BOYS SUMMARIES (Bracket)
Final: No. 4 O’Dea 48, No. 3 Garfield 43
The 3A boys bracket will crown a new champion Saturday night at the Tacoma Dome.
Playing for the fourth time this season, 3A Metro League rivals Garfield and O’Dea tipped off at 9 a.m. in the first of four quarterfinals, and the Fighting Irish went on a late fourth-quarter run to upend the defending state champion Bulldogs and advance.
The first three contests between these programs this season were all decided by single digits — and a combined 13 points — and that trend continued Thursday in a back-and-forth contest that included seven lead changes and seven ties.
“We’ve gone back-and-forth all the games, so it’s really competitive,” O’Dea forward Malcolm Clark said. “They’re an amazing team. But, we already knew what they like to do, we knew their shooters, they’re a great shooting team, so had to get hands high.”
Clark led all scorers with 17 points and completed a double-double with 13 rebounds. He also scored 10 of O’Dea’s final 13 points in the game’s decisive run, including what turned out to be the game-winning basket with 3:56 to play.
Brian Webster added 10 points for the Fighting Irish. Ishe Kanhukamwe was the only scorer in double figures for Garfield with 14.
O’Dea advances to the semifinals for a second consecutive season, having reached the title game last year before being bested by Garfield, 69-50, in the final.
“I’m focused on this year,” Clark said. “That’s last year. They’re a great team, all props to them, they beat us last year. So, had to come back and play hard.”
Up next: O’Dea (19-9) plays Rainier Beach (15-10) at 3:45 p.m. Friday in the semifinals. Garfield (15-7) plays North Central (19-6) at 9 a.m. Friday in a loser-out consolation game.

Final: No. 10 Rainier Beach 64, No. 8 North Central 53
Rainier Beach and North Central ended the first quarter tied at 18, and entered the halftime break locked at 30, but the Vikings outscored the Wolfpack in each of the final two quarters to advance in a back-and-forth quarterfinals matchup Thursday morning.
“Very excited,” Vikings forward Dominik Robinson said. “We play in one of the toughest leagues out here, so it was a struggle getting here. A big struggle. So, we feel really good.”
The Vikings led by five by the end of the third, and led by as many as 14 midway through the fourth following a 13-5 run to open the quarter. The lead remained in double digits most of the way from there.
“At halftime we really locked in and knew what we needed to do,” Robinson said.
Robinson led Rainier Beach with 17 points and completed a double-double with 12 rebounds. Kaden Powers and Nyale Robinson added 14 points apiece for the Vikings, and Jeremiah White had 10.
Eli Williams led all scorers with 19 points and 10 rebounds for North Central, while Jacori Ervin had 16 points and eight rebounds, and Gelonni Ervin had 11 points and six rebounds.
Up next: Rainier Beach (15-10) plays O’Dea (19-9) at 3:45 p.m. Friday in the semifinals. North Central (19-6) plays Garfield (15-7) at 9 a.m. Friday in a loser-out consolation game.

Ryan Lafferty scored a game-high 27 points and Mount Spokane led by as many as 24 in Wednesday afternoon’s quarterfinals meeting with Mountlake Terrace to return to the semifinals for the first time since 2022.
The Wildcats outscored Mountlake Terrace in each quarter, and led by double digits much of the way, including taking a 43-31 lead into the halftime break.
Mount Spokane was in impressive 34-of-53 (64.2 percent) from the floor in the contest, including 7-of-15 (46.7) from 3-point range.
Andrew Rayment also finished in double figures scoring for Mount Spokane with 19 points, while Bode Gardner, Nalu Vargas and Sam Davidson all added eight.
Zaveon Jones led Mountlake Terrace with 20 points and eight rebounds, while Jaxon Dubiel had 14 points.

Eastside Catholic is on the way to the semifinals for the first time since 2020 after ending the Abes' impressive stretch — Lincoln had won four consecutive loser-out contests to reach the quarterfinals — Thursday afternoon at the Tacoma Dome.
Though no lead exceeded single digits, Eastside Catholic took what turned out to be the game’s final lead on the first possession of the second half on a basket from Yabi Aklog.
Lincoln kept the gap close much of the rest of the way, and cut the lead to one point with 2:34 to go, but Eastside Catholic responded with a quick 7-0 run, eventually pushing the game out of reach in the final minute.
“We kept the main thing the main thing,” Eastside Catholic forward Jacob Cofie said. “We want to win a state championship, so we’re all laser-focused.”
Cofie, a Virginia signee, led the way for the Crusaders with 19 points, 12 rebounds, five assists, three blocks and two steals, while Aklog added 16 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
Omarion Boston scored a game-high 25 points for Lincoln, and collected five rebounds. LaVhanta Sandling-Green added 11 points and four assists for the Abes.
