Angels Pitcher Heads To Injured List, Gets MRI on Elbow

Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Chase Silseth has been placed on the 15-day injured list. Silseth started for the Angels on Sunday, striking out seven batters and allowing three earned runs in five innings during their 12-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox. Silseth said he felt something on some of his breaking pitches against the Red Sox, and is awaiting the results from the MRI he underwent, via MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger. For now, Silseth will go on the injured list.

With Silseth out, José Soriano is taking his spot in the Angels starting rotation. Soriano will get his first start of the season against the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday. This will be the Angels' third game of their three-game series against the Rays, and the first career MLB start for Soriano.

Soriano is still gaining experience after making his major league debut in June 2023. He appeared in 38 games last season, recording 56 strikeouts and a 3.64 ERA. In six innings so far this season, Soriano has allowed four hits, three earned runs and struck out three batters.

Along with the news of Silseth heading to the injury list, Angels PR announced that right-handed pitchers Carson Fulmer and Hunter Strickland have been called up to the major leagues. Both Fulmer and Strickland are veterans, with years of experience pitching for a variety of teams.
