Angels Highlights: Halos Cut Three Players From Roster After Loss to Mariners

Angels shut out by Mariners.

The Los Angeles Angels have optioned three players to their minor league squad after losing 5-0 to the Seattle Mariners. Following the game, right-hander Davis Daniel, left-hander Kenny Rosenberg and right-hander Jimmy Herget were optioned.

The Angels were disappointing in their loss to the Mariners, their third straight after losing both split squad games on Wednesday.

The Halos only trailed 1-0 until the bottom of the eighth inning, when the Mariners scored four runs to win 5-0. With key batters like Mike Trout, Aaron Hicks and Nolan Schanuel out of the lineup, the Angels were unable to produce any offense. Still, this was a missed opportunity for some of their depth hitters going up against the team with the worst ERA in MLB through Spring Training.

Los Angeles only recorded four hits throughout the entire game, with Mickey Moniak notching two and Kyren Paris and Matt Thaiss each earning one.

Additionally, Andrew Wantz was struck by a comebacker on his leg, but remained in the game afterwards.

Griffin Canning had a solid start for the Angels. He allowed two hits and one earned run while striking out four batters

Next up for the Angels is a Friday game against the Colorado Rockies, with first pitch at 12:10 p.m. PT.
