There's no secret the Dodgers saved a little money this last offseason by letting key players like Cody Bellinger, Justin Turner and Trea Turner walk in free agency. But, surprisingly, starting pitching has been the biggest issue for the club this season. The Dodgers have been forced to rely on rookies like Bobby Miller, Emmet Sheehan, Gavin Stone and Michael Grove more often than not this year and has the club's World Series hopes somewhat hinging on a group of relatively unproven arms.

But could making a trade for a former all-star be the help that Dodgers fans are looking for? And might that all-star be none other than SoCal native Lucas Giolito?

The Dodgers definitely have the ammo to pull off a trade of this magnitude, and they've made huge deals at the deadline in the past (i.e. getting Trea Turner and Max Scherzer, or Manny Machado). But how likely is it that Giolito makes his way to LA?

Just ask illinoisbet.com, who ranked the Dodgers tied for second best odds to land Giolito, right behind him staying with the White Sox.

I mean it makes sense. He went to Harvard-Westlake High School, and he was on one of the most stacked high school teams imaginable with Max Fried and Jack Flaherty.

If he were to want to be traded anywhere, you'd think it would be back home, right?

The Dodgers are perennial contenders, and it would give Giolito the best chance possible to win a World Series.

Plus, the Dodgers could still get his salary off the books at the end of the season to try and save as much money as possible to throw at an offer for Shohei Ohtani.
