Tyler Glasnow Thinks the Dodgers Could Be Characterized as a Super Team
Over the last few years in baseball, we have seen the idea of super teams forming throughout the league. It's more difficult to create a successful super team in baseball than in other sports, but teams have found different ways of making it happen.
Just last season, both the San Diego Padres and New York Mets entered the year labeled as super teams, but neither qualified for the postseason. Baseball is a fickle sport, that sometimes makes no sense whatsoever.
Entering this season, the Dodgers once again have the look and feel of a super team. New ace Tyler Glasnow confirmed this during an interview with the show Foul Territory on Tuesday.
L.A. already had stars Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman on the roster, but they have added even more talent. Bringing in two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani now gives this team an extra level of stardom, but they aren't done yet.
As currently constructed, their lineup has the look of a super team. But the pitching staff, most notably in the starting rotation, still has some holes in it.
The team is still working on addressing these issues, and the offseason is far from over. But the likelihood is that the Dodgers will add more talent to the rotation, making them into a well-rounded super team.
They are waiting on coveted free agent Yoshinobu Yamamoto to make his decision, and adding him would completely bolster their rotation. But even if they miss out on him, the front office is expected to still be aggressive in adding talent.
Obviously, nothing is guaranteed for next season. They will still need to go play the games, but this team has the look of possibly being one of the best in history for a long time.
