Bo Naylor Injury Update, Guardians News

Bo Naylor is expected to be back in the Cleveland Guardians lineup on Wednesday afternoon.

The Cleveland Guardians have had several players sustain early injuries in spring training. One of these players is their expected Opening Day catcher, Bo Naylor.

Naylor played in the team's spring training opener and looked ready to get his first big league camp underway as the team's primary catcher. However, he was scratched from the lineup two days later with back spasms.

There have been minimal updates since then, but Stephen Vogt provided some fantastic news regarding Bo's status on Tuesday afternoon when asked about it.

"Good," Vogt said. "He completed a workout [on Monday], is going to go through a full workout [on Tuesday], and should be catching [on Wednesday]."

There you have it.

Naylor should be back behind the plate when the Guardians take on the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday afternoon. Vogt said the day that Bo was scratched, there was no need to rush him back given how early they were into spring training. The team certainly took their time, but it will be great to see Naylor back out there.

If all goes as planned, Triston McKenzie, Scott Barlow, and Carlos Carrasco headline the scheduled pitchers for this matchup and could be throwing to Bo.

The 24-year-old is looking to take a big leap from his rookie season to his sophomore year, and that starts in spring training. He finished the 2023 season with a .237/.339/.470 slash line, but caught fire in the final month of the season. He ended up finishing with a 1.125 OPS in the month of September.
