2024 Guardians Spring Training Players Of The Game: Game 23

Cleveland's Steven Kwan, Ramón Laureano, Shane Bieber, and Tim Herrin each had a solid game in the team's 4-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds.

The Cleveland Guardians earned their ninth 2024 Cactus League win with a 4-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds last night.

With 90 players representing the Guardians during spring training (40-man roster, 22 non-roster invitees, and 28 depth camp players), each game’s roster will vary.

Based on Cleveland’s roster for last night’s game and their performances in the contest, here are four Players of the Game.

Steven Kwan, LF

Early in the game, the 26-year-old recorded what would eventually be the game-winning hit.

With one out in the bottom of the second inning, Kwan hit an RBI triple to extend the Guardians’ lead to 3-0. This was his first triple and third RBI of the spring. Soon after, he gave Cleveland its fourth and final run of the contest by scoring on a wild pitch.

Ramón Laureano, DH

Although the 29-year-old did not record a hit in the game, he drove in the Guardians’ first run of the night.

In the bottom of the first inning, Laureano drew a bases-loaded walk to give Cleveland a 1-0 advantage. This was his fifth RBI of the spring.

Shane Bieber, RHP

The 28-year-old had a productive outing, earning his first win of the spring in his third start.

Bieber pitched 5.2 innings, allowing just two hits, one earned run, and two walks, while throwing eight strikeouts in 43 pitches (35 strikes).

Tim Herrin, LHP

For the fourth time in his last five relief appearances, the 27-year-old pitched a scoreless, hitless inning.

In arguably his best outing of the spring, Herrin pitched an immaculate top of the ninth inning, striking out all three hitters he faced on a combined nine pitches. This performance earned the left-hander his first save of the spring.
