When Cal Qunatrill took the mound on Saturday evening, he hadn't recorded a loss as the starting pitcher at home in the regular season in quite a while. In fact, the last time that he lost as the starting home pitch was on September 9, 2019.

That's when he was still a member of the San Diego Padres and before he was traded to the Cleveland Guardians in the Mike Clevinger deal. However, that streak came to and on Saturday evening when the Seattle Mariners beat the Guardians and Qunatrill was credited with the loss.

Trouble started early on when Qunatrill allowed all nine batters on the Marienrs to come to the play in the first inning and they scored two early runs. He allowed another run to come across the plate on a Eugenio Suarez single in the top of the second to make it a 3-0 ballgame.

Quantrill's final line included 5.0 innings pitched, seven hits, three earned runs, one walk, and three strikeouts.

Those were the only three runs the Mariners scored, but it was enough to get the win. The Guardians scored two runs off of doubles by Myles Straw and Jose Ramirez and had plenty of chances to tie or take the lead, but couldn't get it done.

They ended up leaving 12 runners left on base when it was all said and done.

As for Qunatrill's streak, it officially resets to zero after pitching 206.0 innings at home without recording a loss.

After the game Cal has this to say about his start:

"Definitely took a while to settle in today. I threw strikes, made a couple of plays to get out of that first inning, but just a little bit too late ... I'm still not where I think I should be or need to be yet.

This is also the longest streak of its kind in Progressive Field history.

The Mariners clinch their first series win of the season, but the Guardians will be able to win the season series with a win over the Mariners on Sunday.
