Guardians Sign Dusten Knight To Minor League Deal With Spring Training Invite

The Cleveland Guardians strengthen their bullpen depth by signing Dusten Knight to a minor league deal with an invite to Spring Training.

The Cleveland front office is still trying to bolster its already-dominant pitching staff ahead of the 2023 and Spring Training. They signed Phillip Diehl to a minor league on Tuesday and gave another pitcher a Minor League on Wednesday.

This time it's Dusten Knight who has agreed to a contract for the 2023 season and an invite to Spring Training.

Despite being 32 years old, he's only been in the Big League for two seasons. The right-hander spent 2022 with the Tampa Bay Rays and 2021 with the Baltimore Orioles.

In those two years, Knight has put up a 7.32 ERA with a 1.576 WHIP. He may give up a decent amount of runs, but Knight throws strikes which is all you can ask for for a reliever. He averages just over one strikeout per nine innings and 4.1 walks BB9.

If there's one area you can't have too much of in baseball, it would be pitching and the bullpen. Knight may not be Emmanuel Clase, but he does have Big League experience which could come in handy over a long 162 season.
