Not a bad way to kick off a series against one of MLB's top teams. The Cleveland Guardians handed the Baltimore Orioles just their 20th loss of the season with a 5-0 victory on Monday afternoon.

It was clear coming into this series that the Guardians were going to need to score runs in order to put themselves in a position to win games. That's exactly what they did in the series opener, putting up five on the board.

Will Brennan was a large part of this offensive outburst from a team who doesn't score a lot. The right fielder was 3-for-4 including a pair of doubles and he even came around to score twice as well.

Being a Major League hitter can be a tough job at times. Brennan found this out on Sunday afternoon when he failed to deliver for the team late in the game. He showed a lot of poise as a rookie and put that behind him with a great performance at the plate in the series opener.

Steven Kwan and Cam Gallagher were also impressive for the Guardians. Kwan had a pair of hits, an RBI, and scored a run, while Gallagher did a great job turning the lineup over with a couple of RBIs too.

All of this offense was great to see, but it was Logan Allen who set the tone with his dominant starting pitching. He threw seven scoreless innings while striking out 10, setting a new career high

Defeating the Orioles in such a dominant fashion is a rare feat, especially for this Guardians offense. The last time Cleveland won a game by three or more runs was the season opener on March 31.

It's a difficult task, but the Guardians will need to recreate this performance on Tuesday night as Cal Quantrill takes the mound.
