MLB Analyst's Goal For The 2024 Miami Marlins Is Pretty Clear

The Miami Marlins have a straightforward goal entering 2024.

The Miami Marlins will be looking for more pop throughout their lineup during the 2024 MLB season.

Even though the pitching is a little banged up during Spring Training, they seem to have an answer for their ability to eat innings going into the season. Once healthy, the rotation should not be an issue for this team.

Anthony Castrovince of MLB.com listed one goal for every MLB team this season in an article earlier this week. His goal for the Miami Marlins was simple: Score more runs.

"Reaching the playoffs in 2023 was wild and wonderful, but the Marlins can’t expect to repeat the same formula of making it to October while being outscored by 57 runs on the year (especially with Sandy Alcantara on the shelf)," Castrovince wrote. "Having Josh Bell and Jake Burger for a full season should help, but the Marlins have to account for the free-agent departure of Jorge Soler, with their best offensive prospects still working their way towards the big leagues."

Soler led the team in home runs by a wide margin in 2023. The now-San Francisco Giant led the Marlins with 36 home runs. The second on the team was a tie between Jazz Chisholm and Bryan De La Cruz with 19 each, a large drop off from the slugger who they let walk out the door.

Like Castrovince mentioned, Jake Burger's 2023 season was fairly underrated. Between his 88 games with the Chicago White Sox and 53 games with the Miami Marlins, he accounted for 34 home runs and 80 RBIs for the entire season. If Miami's offense takes a step forward, it's more than likely that Burger is a part of it.
