The New York Yankees are in an interesting spot.

New York is loaded with talent but if the season were to end today wouldn't have a postseason spot. Injuries are the biggest problem the Yankees have dealt with and things seem to be turning a corner, but there's no way for sure to know exactly what the Yankees will do ahead of the 2023 Major League Baseball Trade Deadline.

If the Yankees decide to be buyers ahead of the trade deadline, one of the biggest positions of need for the club would be the outfield. New York's depth has been tested with 2022 American League Most Valuable Player Aaron Judge missing time, but a move could help them. Four outfielders the Yankees reportedly could target if they become buyers are the Chicago Cubs' Cody Bellinger, Colorado Rockies' Randal Grichuk, and St. Louis Cardinals duo Dylan Carlson and Tyler O’Neill, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman.

"They’ve often been linked to Cubs star center fielder Cody Bellinger, who’s engineering a big return to form after a couple of seasons following a 2019 MVP year in Los Angeles, but the Cubs are one of many teams also in trade limbo at the moment so there’s no guarantee Bellinger will be dealt," Heyman said. "Rockies outfielder Randal Grichuk could be a solid next choice, with a Cardinals’ group that includes Dylan Carlson and Tyler O’Neill possibly next on their list."

New York has been linked in the past to each of the four outfielders so it wouldn't be too surprising to see the club acquire at least one of them ahead of the trade deadline. There's going to be more buyers and fewer sellers than ever before with an extra postseason spot in both the American League and National League so the upcoming trade deadline is sure to be an interesting one.

The Yankees have what it takes to be World Series contenders if it makes a solid move or two before the August 1 deadline.
