Yankees Viewed as a Different Team After One Week of Play

The New York Yankees are viewed as a different team already after one week of impressive play.

The New York Yankees have had as ideal of a start to the season as they could've had. After one of the most disappointing seasons in team history, the Yankees have gotten off to a hot 8-2 start and have done so without their ace, Gerrit Cole.

Entering the season, the expectation was for them to be a better team than they were a season ago. Given the history of the organization, New York's improvement was almost guaranteed.

Factor in the additions of Juan Soto, Marcus Stroman, and others, and the season looked to be a promising one from the beginning.

They've done exactly that with their play, winning each of their first three series of the season.

MLB.com had the Yankees as the No. 7 team in baseball heading into the season. After the first 10 games, New York has already jumped to No. 3, a massive shift this early in the year.

The Yankees are now the highest-ranked team in the American League, getting the nod over the defending World Series champion Texas Rangers.

Will Leitch writes that New York was written off by many after Cole's injury, but they've bounced back and have been quality teams. Leitch was also impressed with Giancarlo Stanton, who leads the team in home runs. Stanton hit a massive blast on Sunday in the team's win against the Toronto Blue Jays, adding to his team-leading number.

The season is still young and after the season they had in 2023, there are still questions to answer. However, the first 10 games have been impressive and leave for much to be desired moving forward.
