The Cleveland Cavaliers offense has been electric at times this season. They have a group that can do just about everything on the court whether that be driving to the hoop, getting their work done in the paint, or shooting the lights out.

The Cavs have been so good at shooting this season and they set team history against the Memphis Grizzlies on Wednesday night. Cleveland knocked down four threes in the first quarter which officially gave them 1,068 on the season and set a new franchise record for the most made threes in a single season. They surpassed the 2016-17 Cavaliers team who made 1,067.

Cleveland as a team has attempted 36.9 threes a game while connecting on 47.9 percent of them this season.

Who’s contributed to this record-setting season? Unsurprisingly, it’s Donovan Mitchell who is leading the Cavs with 3.3 made threes a game. Right behind him are Max Strus (2.4), Darius Garland (2.3), and Sam Merrill (2.3).

Just for fun, let’s lookback to almost a decade ago to the team that previously held. Kyle Korver led the team with 2.8 made threes a game. Kyrie Irving (2.5), Kevin Love (2.4), Kevin Love (2.4), and JR Smith (2.3) were also among the team leaders in threes made per game.

The 2016-17 Cavaliers reached the Finals but they ultimately fell to the Golden State Warriors. Time will tell how far this year’s Cavs team will make it in the postseason.
