2024 NBA Draft: Best Team Fits For Top Prospects

The 2024 NBA Draft will be a lot different from the previous drafts. It’s not guaranteed that a certain prospect will go number one overall. What are the best fits for the top prospects?

The 2024 NBA Draft has a couple of number one pick candidates in players like Alexandre Sarr, Isaiah Collier and Ron Holland.

All of these unique prospects took their own route to make the NBA as Sarr went to the NBL, Collier went to college and Holland went to the G League. Whoever gets the number overall pick will very much shape up the remainder of the draft.

Let’s dive into each prospect's realistic dream scenario for them to be the top pick in this year’s draft:

Alexandre Sarr

Alex Sarr, Perth Wildcats

Sarr is a skilled 7-foot-1 skilled big man that has been making a ton of noise ever since he had his preseason games versus the G League Ignite squad and looked absolutely dominant. The best team fit for Sarr is the Washington Wizards. The Wizards have really struggled to win games but have some solid building blocks in Kyle Kuzma and Jordan Poole.

Adding Sarr would be a massive boost to their defense as it gives them a mobile rim protector who has shown the ability to defend out in space. Sarr also can add a different dimension to their offense as he’s a capable shooter, an extremely efficient finisher at the rim and has shown some creation flashes.

Isaiah Collier

Isaiah Collier, USC Trojans

Collier is arguably the top prospect in this year's draft due to his elite playmaking ability at 6-foot-5. The skilled lead guard would be an exceptional fit on the San Antonio Spurs who have really struggled to win games and have a true point guard lead their offense. They have attempted to run Jeremy Sochan at the lead guard position but it’s clear that it isn’t going to work out for both the team and Sochan.

Adding Collier would give them a true point guard and someone who could set Victor Wembanyama up for success. Collier has some shooting concerns, especially from the NBA 3-point line but if he’s able to make defense pay then he should be a very successful number one pick.

Ron Holland

Ron Holland

Holland is arguably the best all-around defensive prospect in this year’s draft. The 6-foot-8 forward plays with an extremely high motor and is an absolute defensive menace. The best fit for the talented forward is the Detroit Pistons. The Pistons have been the worst team in the NBA despite having young talented prospects in guys like Cade Cunningham, Jalen Duren, Ausar Thompson and Jaden Ivey.

This team could use a defensive menace and a high motor young player with some offensive versatility like Holland. It would be a phenomenal positional and team fit if this squad was the draft Holland as the young forward is getting quality experience against talented G League players.
