Tankathon Reverse Standings: Pistons Closing Gap on Wizards, Spurs

After making moves around the fringes at the NBA trade deadline, Detroit is heading in the right direction.

The NBA trade deadline came and went, and teams looked to improve with acquisitions of stars, role players and more.

Other teams looked to move off of win-now players in hopes to land even better 2024 NBA Draft odds.

Here are the Tankathon reverse standings as of Sunday, Feb. 11:

1. Detroit Pistons, 8-44

With two wins in their last three games, Detroit seems to be headed in the right direction for the back half of the season.

They made plenty of moves at the NBA trade deadline, cleaning up the fringes of their roster with additions like Simone Fontecchio, Quentin Grimes, Evan Fournier and more.

They’ve haven’t made drastic changes following the addition of the worst losing streak in history to their season resume, and will likely look to stay the course as other teams reposition themselves near the bottom of the standings.

2. Washington Wizards, 9-43

As was reported prior to the actual trade, the Wizards moved off a win-now player like Daniel Gafford in exchange for future draft selections.

While Gafford wasn’t going to single-handedly make waves for Washington, he’s certainly a strong addition to any front court.

Washington is now just 1.0 games ahead of Detroit in the overall standings, and for the time being it seems they’re careening towards having the league’s worst record sooner than later.

3. San Antonio Spurs, 10-43

Despite rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama’s hot-streak, the Spurs are quietly riding a seven-game losing-streak, which include a five-point loss to Washington and a 20-point loss to Brooklyn.

At the trade deadline, San Antonio opted to send Doug McDermott to the Pacers in exchanges for Marcus Morris — who isn’t likely to join the team — and draft compensation.

The Spurs are still fully capable of competing with teams nightly due to Wembanyama’s ceiling. But they’re still far from a good basketball team in their current state.

4. Charlotte Hornets, 11-41

5. Portland Trail Blazers, 15-37

6. Memphis Grizzlies, 18-35

7. Toronto Raptors, 19-34

8. Brooklyn Nets, 21-31

9. Houston Rockets, 23-29

10. Atlanta Hawks, 24-29

11. Chicago Bulls, 25-28

12. Utah Jazz, 26-27

13. Golden State Warriors, 25-25

14. Los Angeles Lakers, 28-26
