Top NBA Rookies to Watch Tonight

A few of the top rookies to keep an eye on in tonight’s loaded NBA slate.

With dynamic guards, towering 7-foot titans and everything in between, the 2023 NBA Draft class (plus Chet Holmgren) has lived up to the hype. And that's manifested itself on a near-nightly basis in the big leagues.

Here are some of the top rookies to watch on tonight’s NBA schedule:

Chet Holmgren, OKC Thunder

Fresh off the team’s worst loss of the season to the Detroit Pistons - one Holmgren didn’t fare too well in — the 7-footer will look back to get on track tonight.

Unfortunately for Holmgren, who’s been far-and-away in a tier of his own in terms of rookie efficiency and impact, he’ll have to do so against Rudy Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns at 7 p.m. CT.

Regardless of where he lands on the spectrum tonight, it’s sure to be must-watch basketball.

Victor Wembanyama, San Antonio Spurs

Wembanyama has been on another level recently, effectively re-grabbing the reigns as the Rookie of the Year frontrunner.

In his last 11 games, Wembanyama has averaged 24.8 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.1 blocks while shooting 51% overall and 33% from beyond the arc.

His Spurs haven’t put up as much of a fight as the top-seeded Thunder, but he’s been electric, nonetheless. Tonight, though, the Spurs could get in the win column against Washington at 7 p.m. CT.

Jaime Jaquez Jr., Miami Heat

Jaquez had firmly established himself as No. 3 amongst rookies so far this season, but then saw a six-game absence due to minor injury.

He got back in the swing of things Saturday, but posted just six points on 1-for-13 shooting, adding four assists and two steals and blocks apiece.

After shaking the rust off, Jaquez should have a nice bounce-back game against the Phoenix Suns at 6:30 p.m. tonight.
