Top Prospect Cooper Flagg Commits to Duke Over UConn

Montverde’s Cooper Flagg, likely the best basketball prospect on the planet currently, committed to the Blue Devils over the Huskies.

Cooper Flagg, likely the best basketball prospect in the world regardless of age, chose to continue his basketball career at Duke Monday morning.

At 6-foot-8 with an illustrious high school career, Flagg essentially had his choice of schools across the country. But in the end, narrowed it down to two, opting with the Blue Devils over the UConn Huskies.

With Duke, Flagg is joining one of the more storied programs in all of college basketball, and what is sure to be a loaded recruiting class down the line.

Flagg had a breakout EYBL campaign, averaging 25.4 points, 13.0 rebounds, 6.9 blocks and 5.7 assists per game at Peach Jam. But it’s not all stats and accolades with the Montverde product. Throwing on the tape, it’s easy to see the Blue Devils are getting a potentially generational talent.

Per Draft Digest’s earlier scouting report on Flagg: “As an offensive prospect, the 6-foot-8 forward is a triple-double threat with his passing upside. He has great vision for his size and could end up being the dominant point forward archetype that we see around the NBA today. Flagg can also create for himself, leveraging great footwork, post moves and dribble moves to generate space and good looks. He’s an advanced shot maker and strong finisher, but also has soft touch.”

Despite having interest from the G League Ignite, the collegiate route is a solid choice for Flagg, who will undoubtedly stand out among his younger peers.

Flagg reclassified via Instagram in August, meaning he’ll now be eligible for the 2025 NBA Draft. He’ll be the favorite to be the top pick via all major draft sites and experts.
