Prospect Profile

A fifth-year forward at Villanova, Dixon is an elite scorer who can produce points at all three levels. He’s proven to be one of the most dynamic scorers in the country, leveraging his unique size and skillset.

At 6-foot-8 with a 265-pound frame, there are not many forwards with the sheer size and strength that Dixon possesses while also being as mobile as he is. He’s also the type of player who plays within himself and has a solid foundation while doing the little things to impact winning. He’s fundamentally sound, and the process in which he plays yields excellent results. Relative to how much he has the ball in his hands, he doesn’t turn it over very often which is very important.

What’s really allowed Dixon to break out in year five has been his 3-point shot. He’s been a very good overall scorer for several years now, but his accuracy from beyond the arc — while shooting on high volume — this season has been special. He’s also a great free throw shooter and gives reason to believe his shooting upside is real.

Scoring is what Dixon is known for, but he does much more than that. The forward is also a solid rebounder and a good connective passer for his size. There’s no question he has the upside to be a starter in the NBA at some point, but he’s a pretty clear floor-raiser at the next level. Just like he’s been able to in college, Dixon will be able to leverage his size in the NBA to punish smaller wings, while also having the quickness and range to create advantages against bigger players.

Dixon will be 24 years old on draft night, so relative to most of his peers in this class, he will be older. Even then, what he’s been able to showcase in this breakout fifth season has been nothing short of spectacular, and there’s no question his scoring can translate at the next level. That’s not to say he’ll ever score at this rate in the NBA, but the ways that he gets to his spots and the perimeter shooting accuracy at his size is well worth a draft selection despite his age.
