Isaiah Wong goes to Indiana Pacers at 55 for teams final pick of NBA Draft

Wong was the Pacers fourth rookie selected

With the Indiana Pacers final pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, they selected guard Isaiah Wong from Miami. It was the 55th overall selection in the draft.

Wong worked out for the Pacers in the pre-draft process as a part of a group on May 31, which was one of the team's first workout sessions. Wong was less than two months removed from a Final Four run with the Hurricane.

"I feel like I did well in the workout today," he said that day.

As a senior with Miami, the 22-year old averaged 16.2 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists per game. He improved his three-point percentage to 38.4% and upped his steal rate. It was a solid showing of improvement.

The New Jersey native was the final pick by Indiana on the night. There were only three picks left after the blue and gold before the conclusion of the draft. Given his draft slot, Wong could be a two-way contract candidate for the Pacers this season.

"I showed that I can score, I can play defense at the other end, and I can just play well with everybody," Wong said after his workout with the blue and gold.

The six-foot-three-inch guard joins a draft class that features Jarace Walker (eighth overall), Ben Sheppard (26th), and Mojave King (47th). Indiana made three trades leading up to the draft and walked away with four players, Wong being the final one selected.

The Pacers draft is now finished, and the two first-round picks are expected to be introduced in Indianapolis on Friday.
