Suns Slip to No. 3 in ESPN NBA Power Rankings

The Phoenix Suns drastically (that's sarcasm) fall from No. 2 to No. 3 in ESPN's latest batch of NBA Power Rankings.

The Phoenix Suns look to avoid their first set of back-to-back losses for the first time all season after losing to the Philadelphia 76ers on Monday.

The Suns battle the Minnesota Timberwolves tonight, currently sitting tied for second in the Western Conference standings behind only the Utah Jazz (9-3).

As far as most power rankings go, you'll typically find the Suns at No. 2 behind the 9-1 Milwaukee Bucks, who grabbed the top spot.

However, ESPN recently dropped Phoenix one spot to No. 3, swapping spots with the Cleveland Cavaliers

Here's what they offered on the Suns' positioning:

"The Suns have a problem at small forward. After Jae Crowder left the team before training camp while Phoenix worked to find a trade destination, Cam Johnson -- the guy the franchise chose to elevate in the lineup, leading to the Crowder situation in the first place -- got injured. Johnson suffered a torn meniscus in his right knee, requiring surgery that is expected to sideline him a couple of months. It could be time for Josh Okogie to get a better look."

All above are fair points, and the only way for Phoenix to improve their position is to go out and win their next slate of games, which includes Minnesota tonight and Orlando on Friday.

The Suns finished above the Boston Celtics and Utah Jazz to round out the top five.
