Prominent Suns React to Robert Sarver Investigation

Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Monty Williams react to Robert Sarver's allegations.

The Phoenix Suns held their media day on Monday afternoon to prepare for the upcoming 2022-23 season.

However, it was also the first time reporters could officially ask players about the news that transpired this offseason involving the Suns' and Mercury's soon-to-be former owner Robert Sarver. The NBA suspended him for a year and fined him a maximum of $10 million.

During his press conference, Chris Paul shared that the report was "tough to read, and disturbing."

Paul stated that he regularly spoke to commissioner Adam Silver about Sarver's situation, as did Steph Curry, NBAPA President C.J. McCollum and Kyle Lowry as well. He also sent his thoughts and prayers to those directly impacted by the actions of Sarver.

Devin Booker was also asked about his first reaction to the report and called it "tough."

"That's not the Robert Sarver that I know," Booker said. "That's not the Robert Sarver that welcomed me to Phoenix with open arms. But at the same time, I'm not insensitive to everyone who's involved in this situation, and I understand that everyone's personal experience with other people are Sarver's always going to be different. But it's tough to read because that's not the person I know."

Suns coach Monty Williams also spoke about enhancing their culture.

“I don’t think you can throw clichés and catchphrases on this one and be like, ‘Let’s move forward,'” he said on Monday

“I think that’s somewhat irresponsible. I always talk about this being a get-to and not I got to, not allowing anything to affect our gym — I don’t think you can do that in this situation.

“But I do think if we continue to show a level of respect and love for one another, we can move forward the right way. I think that will enhance our culture, I think it’s going to bring us closer together.”

Earlier this month, when ESPN's Baxter Holmes' report dropped, Paul reacted via Twitter.

"Like many others, I reviewed the report. I was and am horrified and disappointed by what I read. This conduct,,,, especially towards women, is unacceptable and must never be repeated," said Paul.

He added, "I am of the view that the sanctions fell short in truly addressing what we can all agree was atrocious behavior. My heart goes out to all of the people that were affected."

The Suns play host to the Dallas Mavericks at Footprint Center on Oct. 19th in a rematch of the Western Conference Semifinals, which saw the Mavericks eliminate the Suns in seven games.
