Cardinals TE Trey McBride Returns vs 49ers After Injury
*UPDATE: McBride has returned to action*
ARIZONA -- Arizona Cardinals TE Trey McBride was spotted jogging off to the locker room with trainers in the first half of the team's game against the San Francisco 49ers. Arizona says McBride has a shoulder injury and he is questionable to return.
McBride exited with three receptions for 61 yards. It is unknown exactly what play he was hurt on.
McBride's first catch of the day saw him break a franchise record for single-season receptions by a tight end.
McBride entered this week leading the Cardinals in receiving yards with 610 on 74 targets, nearly 30 less targets than Marquise Brown who has 574 yards to his name. McBride also had a team-high 56 receptions with two touchdowns entering Week 15.
The second-year tight end has been impressive since taking over for Zach Ertz when the Pro Bowler went to injured reserve. So much so that the team was comfortable with releasing Ertz just a few weeks ago.
"I think there’s still a lot left in the tank, truthfully and you can talk to him about that. Just what he does from the run and pass game (with) how (Offensive Coordinator) Drew (Petzing) deploys him, I think that he’s taken steps to becoming a more consistent, better playmaker as we’ve played more games here—as he’s only in his second year," Gannon said of McBride earlier this week.
"I think sky’s the limits for him, but obviously he’s a huge piece to our offense and he has done a really good job.”
This article will be updated if any info becomes available. Geoff Swaim is behind McBride on the depth chart.
