Chargers head coach Brandon Staley was brief in his notion about the team's contract discussions with star quarterback Justin Herbert. Staley described the talks as "ongoing" ahead of the Chargers annual golf charity event.

Herbert is under contract through the 2024 season but he has maintained that he committed to winning in Los Angeles despite the lack of contractual security.

It's been an honor to be a part of this team. It's great to come to events like this and whatever happens, happens and it's out of my control at this point."

Since his arrival, Herbert has turned things around for the Chargers. They had always been in contention but now they have a young, franchise level quarterback that they believe can lead them to the promise land. He is the prototypical build for a quarterback and he continues to climb the hill as one of the top quarterbacks in the league.

He can sling the ball all over the field and even battling through injuries last season, he still managed to get the Chargers into the postseason. Now Los Angeles has some new weapons at their disposal and a new offensive coordinator in Kellen Moore to help guide Herbert.

The Chargers are in good shape with Herbert leading the charge. He leads one of the leagues most explosive offenses and he could very well find himself in the MVP conversation this season. He deserves every penny that the Chargers are gearing up to pay him and he will be one of, if not the, highest paid quarterback across the entire NFL.
