Chargers News: X-Factor Could Hurt Justin Herbert's Chances Of Being Top 2024 Fantasy QB

Could someone in LA's own building hurt Herbert's chances of being a top fanatasy quarterback.?

The Los Angeles Chargers have a monumental season ahead of them with a new regime at the helm. Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh will be tasked to flip this team upside down. So far, they look like they'll be worse than last season.

The team has lost vital pieces a month into the new year, and the hope for this season seems bleak. Nonetheless, there's a ton of time to turn things around this offseason to be a threat in the AFC.

While the roster may not be pretty, there is still hope, as they have one of the best quarterbacks in the league, Justin Herbert. Herbert will be tasked with leading this team to a ton of wins, even though he may not be the focal point of the offense. Because of that, he may not even be a viable option for fantasy football.

Jason Katz of Pro Football believes Harbaugh will be the reason Herbert won't be a top quarterback in the league among fantasy players.

"Herbert would still give fantasy managers three more elite QB1 games of 24.0, 29.4, and 25.7 fantasy points. However, he also had four games where he was unstartable, plus a fifth where he broke his finger, ending his season. I still believe in Herbert as a talent. Unfortunately, he may not be someone fantasy managers want in fantasy this season."

The numbers tell us the whole story. For one, Harbaugh loves to dominate the trenches and run the ball. According to NBC Sports' Denny Carter, Harbaugh's 49ers teams ranked 31st, 31st, 32nd, and 29th in pass attempts with Harbaugh at the helm.

Harbaugh and offensive coordinator Greg Roman have made it clear that the Chargers will focus on the run game to take the pressure off Herbert. While Charger fans may not care, fantasy football managers care a ton.

The 25-year-old has been ranked ninth, second, and 11th among fantasy football quarterbacks in his first three seasons. That will spell trouble for fantasy managers looking to Herbert, considering how the Chargers plan to run the offense.

On top of all this, even if the Chargers plan to use Herbert as their focal point, he needs some wide receivers to throw to. The good thing is the season starts in September. The front office has plenty of time to find him some talent, especially with the draft approaching later this month.

Will you still draft Herbert in your fantasy draft this upcoming season?
