Comeback Story: Cowboys Sign Former Steelers WR Martavis Bryant

Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant is back in the NFL.

PITTSBURGH — The NFL comeback is officially complete. Former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Martavis Bryant is back on an NFL roster. The former fourth-round pick has signed with the Dallas Cowboys, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

Bryant was reinstated by the NFL last week after a four-year suspension for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. During his time away, Bryant spent time playing in the CFL and XFL.

The 31 year old spent 2014-2017 with the Steelers, catching 126 passes for 1,917 yards and 17 touchdowns. He was traded to the Oakland Raiders ahead of the 2018 NFL Draft for a third-round pick. Pittsburgh used that pick to draft quarterback Mason Rudolph, and then used their own third-round selection to pick offensive tackle Chuks Okorafor.

According to The Score’s Jordan Schultz, Bryant is signing to Dallas’ practice squad. He’ll have an opportunity to earn a spot in a receiver room that include Ceedee Lamb, Michael Gallup and Brandin Cooks.
