Jalen Carter Expected to Slide to Steelers After Legal Trouble

The Pittsburgh Steelers are now being looked at as a landing spot for Jalen Carter.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have met with several defensive linemen during the NFL Combine, but when it's all said and done, they could find one of the most talented prospects available at pick 17.

Just hours after the news that Jalen Carter has had an arrest warrant issued against him for his involvement of the death of his teammate earlier this year, CBS Sports released a new mock draft. At pick 17, the Steelers find themselves with the option to grab the talented defensive tackle, and do so as their first pick.

"The Steelers stop the Carter fall and feel they have the right coaching structure and locker room to handle everything that will come with making this selection," CBS Sports writes.

There is plenty of time between now and the NFL Draft for Carter's situation to take many turns. As of now, it looks like he has an uphill climb to redeem his status as a potential first-overall pick.

If he does slide, could he make it to 17? That likely won't be answered until all his legal troubles are situated. But for now, the expectation is that he's headed to Pittsburgh to join Cam Heyward and T.J. Watt on the defensive line.
