Former Player Says T.J. Watt Must Agree to Steelers Signing Taylor Lewan

If the Pittsburgh Steelers want Taylor Lewan, T.J. Watt must say yes.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are spending a lot of time looking at defensive players at the NFL Combine, but in the free agency market, left tackle Taylor Lewan remains the hottest name for the black and gold.

After being released by the Tennessee Titans, Lewan officially hit free agency with plenty of marketing already under his belt. Over the last few months, he's said he expected to be released and has named the Steelers as a desirable team to sign with.

The issue is that he has a poor past with outside linebacker T.J. Watt, and at this point, it doesn't seem as if their history is going to be swept aside that easily.

Talking about the possibility of signing Lewan, former Steelers linebacker Arthur Moats said the team can't make that decision without Watt's consent.

"It's not even an issue of how me or you feel, or even how the organization might feel," Moats said. "We're talking about T.J. Watt. That was the person that was directly impacted. He was the wrong party in this situation. So, regardless of how we might feel as outsiders, or even as fans or as media, he has to check off on this thing because of who he is within this organization, because of who he is when you talk about his league status. ... If this is going to be something where it's going to be an issue for him, you can't do it."

Watt hasn't said anything publicly about Lewan or the Steelers potentially signing him. If they do consider it, though, they'll likely go to their star linebacker before a decision is made.
