Former Steelers DB Finds New NFL Team
PITTSBURGH -- The Buffalo Bills have added former Pittsburgh Steelers defensive back Tre Norwood to their practice squad, marking his second landing spot of the season.
The Steelers released Norwood to start the season after being part of their final roster cuts. The third-year pro was injured at the start of the season but eventually found himself on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad before being released. He's now back in the AFC, signing with Buffalo.
The 24-year-old has the ability to play both safety and slot corner in the NFL, and was working at both positions with the Steelers this past summer. In his first two years in the league, Norwood has played 32 games, including six starts, and contributed 61 tackles and an interception.
Norwood's strongest asset is his football I.Q. Coming into the league, many within the Steelers organization compared him to Cam Sutton due to his ability to move around a defense and be effective from multiple areas. He's also been a reliable special teamer, playing over 300 snaps on punt and kick coverage the last two seasons.
