Sunderland head to Millwall this week to get their Championship season back underway.

The Black Cats already have one win over Millwall this season, with Amad Diallo, Alex Pritchard and Ellis Simms scoring in a 3-0 win at the Stadium of Light in December,

When was the last time Sunderland won a League double over Millwall, though? Who scored the last time they won a match at The Den?

All that and more in your Millwall vs Sunderland stat-attack.

Millwall vs Sunderland stat-attack

- The last meeting between the clubs was March 2018, when the two sides battled to a 1-1 draw at The Den.

- Millwall have not lost a home game against Sunderland since September 1995, when Martin Scott and Martin Smith (although Michael Gray might dispute that!) scored in a 2-1 win. The managers that day were Peter Reid and Mick McCarthy. David Kelly made his debut for the club.

- That win in September 1995 was also part of the last league double Sunderland achieved over Millwall. They won the reverse fixture 6-2 at Roker Park with Criag Russell scoring four times. Millwall went into that game top of the league (with Sunderland replacing them afterwards) but ended up being relegated.

- The first goal could be crucial in the game this weekend. Millwall are the only side in the Championship yet to drop any points from winning positions this season, winning all 12 games in which they’ve led.

- Sunderland’s away record has been okay. The Black Cats are unbeaten in their last six Championship matches away from home with three wins and three draws.

- Tom Bradshaw will have to be closely watched by the Sunderland defence. He has scored three goals in his last three games and has nine goal involvements this season (seven goals and two assists). One more and he will equal his best ever tally in a Championship season for Millwall.
