Sunderland winger Jewison Bennette is likely to head to Greece this month after Aris beat Hibernian to his signature.

The 19-year-old has been unhappy at his lack of game time at Sunderland and has briefed some Costa Rican journalists that he has felt ‘disrespected’ by the Wearside club at times.

He has requested a loan move this month and he is set to get his wish, although it will be Greece that is his destination, not Scotland.

Hibernian had been very keen on signing Bennette, but with the SPL club already having a number of wingers in their squad, Aris has been deemed a better place for him to go play football.

They are having a decent season in the Greek Super League, currently sat in fifth position after 19 games.

Bennette will be a teammate of former Sunderland winger David Moberg Karlsson at Aris, who is currently on loan from J-League side Urawa Red Dragons.

His departure should be a part of a busy final few days of the transfer window at Sunderland. Jack Diamond has already left on loan to Carlisle, while Jay Matete may also be loaned out.

Incomings are sure to high on the agenda too with Kristjaan Speakman confirming that there are a number of ‘offers on the table’ for players.
