• Senior Alba Cortina Pou and junior Moka Ito picked up ranked singles wins during the first full day of the Rice Invitational. Pou had a 7-6(5), 6-2, victory over No. 55 Tatum Rice of Arkansas, while Ito won 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) over No. 53 Martina Zerulo of Arkansas. Senior Ann Selim went 2-0 in singles play.
• Freshman Caroline Curtis shot at 4-under par 66 as the women’s golf team remaining in third place at the Schooner Fall Classic at Belmar Golf Club. Alabama shot 2-over par 282 during the second round, but was nine strokes behind host Oklahoma and eight behind No. 2 Texas.
• Seniors Zhe Zhou and Alexey Nesterov won their doubles match, while each split his singles matchups at the Southern Miss Invitational.
• Justin Thomas is tied for fifth at -10 heading into the final round of the PGA Safeway Open in Napa, Calif. Cameron Champ had the lead at -14.

September 29, 1990: After three consecutive losses, head coach Gene Stallings finally got his first victory as Alabama destroyed Vanderbilt 59-28 at Bryant-Denny Stadium. At one point the Crimson Tide led 52-0 late in the first half. – Bryant Museum
