  • Women's Tennis: Anne Marie Hirser/Loudmilla Bencheikh defeated 8th-ranked Katherine Duong/Megan Heuser (Illinois), 6-4, 7-5.

  • Alabama golfer Nick Dunlap won his second straight SEC Golfer of the Week honor.
  • Sarah Ashlee Barker and Loyal McQueen will join women's basketball head coach Kristy Curry at SEC Media Days in Birmingham on October 19th. 
  • Aaron Estrada and Mark Sears will join Nate Oats at SEC Media Days on October 18th. 
  • The No. 19 Alabama soccer team (7-2-4, 1-2-1 SEC) will play its Power of Pink game to help raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer against Auburn (5-4-3, 1-2-1 SEC) Thursday night.
  • Reliever David Robertson had his season come to an end with the Phillies eliminating the Marlins from the National League Playoffs. He three two innings, yielding two runs, two hits including a home run, and struck out four. Of course, Philadelphia is one of his former teams.
  • Offensive lineman Evan Neal was quick with an apology to New York Giants fans after lashing out at them on Wednesday with: “The person that’s commenting on my performance, what does he do? Flip hot dogs and hamburgers somewhere? " Neal said. “Most critics really don’t understand the game of football to the level that we understand it in this building. So why would a lion concern himself with the opinion of a sheep?” The Giants are 1-3.

On This Day in Crimson Tide History:

October 5, 1929: Governor Bibb Graves officially dedicated the new stadium in Tuscaloosa to university president George H. Denny. Wallace Wade’s team subsequently did its part with a 22-7 victory over Ole Miss.
