Live Updates: Alabama Gymnastics vs. Michigan State

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — A new era begins in Coleman Coliseum Friday night when Alabama gymnastics opens the season against Michigan State under new head coach Ashley Johnston.

The Spartans are coming off one of their most successful seasons in program history, finishing No. 9 and bring in an experienced roster with 10 upperclassmen.

This is the first meet between the Crimson Tide and Spartans since 2002.

Since Alabama is the home team, it will start on vault before moving to the uneven bars. The Crimson Tide will end the meet on the balance beam and floor exercise.

The meet is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and will be broadcast on SEC Network

• Mati Waligora- Solid start to the rotation. 9.85
• Shallon Olsen- Didn't quite stick her second tumbling pass, but another solid routine. 9.775
• Makarri Doggette- She only competed floor in two meets last season while working through an injury. With this routine, Doggette completed the all-around. 9.8
• Gabby Gladieux- Really impressive routine for the freshman. Alabama's best floor routine so far, and it shows in the score. 9.9
• Luisa Blanco- Another solid routine from Blanco that got the Coleman crowd on its feet. 9.925
• Lilly Hudson- Hudson steps out of bounds on her first tumbling pass. 9.65

• The Crimson Tide holds a .175 lead heading into the final rotation. 

• Alabama left a lot of points out there on beam, but didn't have any major mishaps. Blanco closed the rotation strong with her first 9.9 of the night. 
• Last season, Ella Burgess led off the beam lineup every meet. I'm not sure if she was injured or unavailable, but will try to find out after the meet.

• Lilly Hudson- Really nice routine to start off the rotation, only a slight hop on the dismount. 9.85
• Makarri Doggette- In her first beam routine since Jan. 28 of last year, Doggette looked really comfortable. 9.775
• Shallon Olsen- She had a slight balance check on her acro series, but finished the routine with the high-difficulty roundoff double back. 9.775
• Mati Waligora- several balance checks throughout. 9.675
• Gabby Gladieux- You could see a little bit of nerves for the freshman, but an overall solid routine. 9.825
• Luisa Blanco- Only one balance check for Blanco. Probably Alabama's best routine on beam. 9.9

• Cam Machado- Another stuck landing for the Crimson Tide. 9.85
• Makarri Doggette- She sticks the landing after a beautiful routine. 9.9

• Really solid start for the Crimson Tide. Alabama's depth showed on vault with six straight 10.0 start value vaults.
• The Spartans rebounded nicely having a near-disastrous routine to open up the event on bars.
• Gabby Gladieux is the only freshman in the vault lineup for the Crimson Tide.
• According to the initial lineups sheet handed out to the media, sophomore Lilly Hudson and senior Luisa Blanco will be competing in the all-around for Alabama tonight.

• Shallon Olsen- Slight hop on the landing on the Yurchenko double, but a good start for Alabama on vault. 9.85
• Makarri Doggette- Big vault, but a step forward on the landing of her Yurchenko 1.5. 9.9
• Lilly Hudson- Solid Yurchenko 1.5 from Hudson. 9.85
• Luisa Blanco- Slightly under-rotated her 1.5 and had to take a small bounce back on the landing. 9.875
• Jordyn Paradise- A big 1.5 from Paradise, the fifth straight 10.0 start value vault for the Crimson Tide. 9.85
• Gabby Gladieux- Very impressive debut for the freshman. It was probably the biggest vault of the night for Alabama, and she nearly stuck the landing. 9.825
