Alabama Women's Basketball Loses at Florida, 81-77

The Crimson Tide outscored the Gators in the second half, but could not complete the comeback en route to losing consecutive games for the first time since late January.

The comeback fell short as Alabama women's basketball lost at Florida 81-77 on Thursday night.

Four Crimson Tide players reached double figures, led by Brittany Davis' 16 points, including 15 in the second half. Aaliyah Nye and Hannah Barber each had 15 points and combined to shoot 8-for-12 from the 3-point line. Sarah Ashlee Barker was the last double-digit scorer with 10 points.

Florida's KK Deans led all scorers with 22 points by going 5-for-7 from the field and 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Ra Shaya Kyle was second on the team with 14 points and had a team-high seven rebounds. Leilani Correa and Nina Richards scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

It was a tale of two halves for Alabama as Kristy Curry's squad went 8-for-20 in the first half and Davis started the game 0-for-3. Barker and Jada Rice carried the offense with eight and nine points in the first half, respectively.

Florida, on the other hand, was hot in the first half, shooting 53.1 percent from the field and 4-for-6 on 3-pointers. Deans alone scored 13 points on 4-for-4 shooting from the floor, including three 3-pointers. The score was 45-30 Florida at halftime.

The Crimson Tide offense turned it around by shooting 61.5 percent from the field and 4-for-5 from beyond the arc in the third quarter. Davis and Barber combined for 17 points to propel the offense in that quarter as the Florida offense went cold. shooting 3-for-15 from the field. The score was 59-52 Florida at the end of the third quarter.

Alabama continued to fight in the fourth quarter and tied the game at 75 with 2:26 to go, but Florida went on a 6-2 run to seal the game.

With the loss, Alabama's record is 20-8 overall and 9-6 in SEC play. The Tide's next game will be at home on Sunday against the Ole Miss Rebels. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m. CT on SEC Network+
