TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — After a rough start to the game, Alabama women's basketball battled back against Ole Miss but could not close it out as it ended 57-55 in favor of the Rebels on Sunday afternoon.

With the loss, Alabama can no longer attain a four-seed in the upcoming SEC Tournament and will miss out on the double-bye advantage.

After being down 17-9 at the end of the first quarter, the Crimson Tide was able to outscore Ole Miss in the second quarter and went into the half down by one, 25-24.

The third quarter was Alabama's best quarter in the game, as they were able to push the ball and get a couple easy looks on the fast break to go up by as many as eight. Alabama ended the quarter with a 41-35 lead heading into the fourth.

The fourth quarter started out rough for Alabama, with back-to-back turnovers and eventually the game was tied, 43-43. The remaining seven minutes were back and fourth, with neither team able to really pull away.

Alabama opted to foul Ole Miss with the game tied at 55, and put the Rebels on the line with ten seconds left. Marquesha Davis made both of them and on the final Alabama possession, Jada Rice's shot was blocked.

The Rebels were lead by Davis, who had 26 points on 66 percent shooting from the field. She also had five rebounds and two steals to go along with her points.

Alabama used a big performance late from Aaliyah Nye, who was able to have 12 points with six coming in the fourth quarter. Brittany Davis had 11 points, but was unable to make a three pointer in the game.

The loss is Alabama's third in a row and it drops the team to 20-9 and 9-7 in the SEC. With the SEC Tournament on the horizon, the Crimson Tide are now going into it as a six seed, and will probably need a win to help their NCAA Tournament seeds.
