BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — It was business as usual on Thursday afternoon inside Legacy Arena for 1-seed Alabama basketball as the Crimson Tide defeated the 16-seed Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Islanders by a final score of 96-75 in the First Round of the 2023 NCAA Tournament.

The bench for Alabama was the key story of the game, with the Crimson Tide players that came off of the bench scoring 49 points. Nick Pringle led the way with 19 points and also wrangled in 15 rebounds for his second double-double of the season. Mark Sears was second on the team with 15 points, while Jahvon Quinerly was third with 13 points.

Notably ineffective was Brandon Miller, who was 0-for-5 from the floor with no points and five rebounds. Jaden Bradley also failed to score, shooting 0-for-4 from the floor with one board. Miller and Bradley were the only two players on the team who player for more than two minutes that didn't score any points.

Alabama now moves on to play 8-seed Maryland on Saturday in the Second Round. Tipoff time and network will be announced at a later time.
