Laurel, Miss. to Las Vegas

That's where Alabama Football defensive lineman Byron Young is going after being drafted by the Raiders in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft.

He was the 70th overall selection.

Young is one of two Young's drafted from the Crimson Tide after Bryce Young went first overall on Thursday night.

Young played four seasons in Tuscaloosa from 2019-2022. He was named first team All-SEC by the Associated Press and second team All-American by the AFCA in 2022-23 — starting all 13 games. He picked up 48 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, and four sacks. Young also tallied six quarterback pressures, two pass breakups and a forced fumble in Alabama's 11-win season.

He is the sixth Alabama player taken in this year's draft, joining Bryce Young (Panthers), Will Anderson Jr. (Texans), Jahmyr Gibbs (Lions), Brian Branch (Lions) and Tyler Steen (Eagles.)

Here's a look at Young as a prospect, courtesy of analyst Lance Zierlein of NFL.com.

"Interior defensive lineman with the play traits and versatility to align in odd or even fronts. Young has decent length and is well-schooled at attacking blocks with good technical savvy. He’s much better as a read-react defender than a one-gapper and must win with power and balance over quickness. He’s likely to fit into a rotational role early on but could develop into an average starter down the road."

Young likely won't be the final Crimson Tide player selected, as the 2023 NFL Draft continues in Kansas City, Mo.
