Alabama Crimson Tide 2023 NFL Draft Tracker
Alabama at the 2023 NFL Draft started with a bang when quarterback Bryce Young went No. 1 overall to the Carolina Panthers, and the Houston Texans traded up two picks later to select Will Anderson Jr. with third overall pick. The draft rounded out with DeMarcco Hellams going to the Atlanta Falcons in the seventh round as the Crimson Tide's 10th selection.
The 10 players drafted ties Georgia for most players taken in the 2023 draft followed by Michigan with nine and TCU with eight . It also ties the Alabama record for second most players drafted in a single year with 1945, 2017, 2019 and 2021. (The program record is 12, set in 2018.)
Overall, the SEC led all conferences with the most players drafted for the 17th straight season.
Among Alabama's five early draft entrants, three (Young, Anderson and running back Jahmyr Gibbs) went in the first round. Brian Branch was drafted by the Detroit Lions in the second round, and defensive back Eli Ricks went undrafted.
Nick Saban usually advises players to return to school for their senior season if they do not receive a first or second round draft grade.
Alongside Ricks, Alabama's draft-eligible players that were not selected in the three-day draft were offensive lineman Emil Ekiyor Jr., defensive lineman D.J. Dale, offensive lineman Kendall Randolph and linebacker Jaylen Moody.
The Texans and Lions are the two franchises to draft multiple Alabama players this season. Former Alabama linebacker DeMeco Ryans is now the head coach of the Texans.
With Young, Anderson and Gibbs getting picked in the first round, Saban has now helped produce 44 first round draft picks at Alabama.
