The Alabama Crimson Tide football program is starting to build a bit of momentum through the transfer portal as new head coach Kalen DeBoer adds a new weapon for the 2024 offense.

Junior wide receiver Germie Bernard announced on social media Sunday night that he will transfer from Washington to Alabama.

Bernard is a former 4-star recruit out of Liberty High School in Nevada in the Class of 2022. The 6-foot-1, 200-pound receiver originally signed his letter of intent with the Washington Huskies but asked for his release and instead spent his freshman year with the Michigan State Spartans.

He appeared in all 12 games for Michigan State in 2022, making seven receptions for 128 yards and two touchdowns. He then transferred to Washington to play for the Huskies in their high-powered offense.

Bernard saw the field in Seattle in 14 of Washington's 15 games and made seven starts. Working behind several NFL prospects he was able to haul in 34 receptions for 419 yards and three touchdowns. He was also used in the backfield a bit, taking 13 carries for 43 yards and two more scores.

He joins former Washington teammates Austin Mack and Parker Brailsford as players who have followed DeBoer from Seattle to Tuscaloosa. He becomes one of the more experienced receivers on the current Alabama roster as that position had been hit particularly hard with transfers over the year.

Alabama now has Bernard, Kendrick Law, Kobe Prentice and Jalen Hale as its likely top options in the passing game in 2024.
